Pupils inspired at the Summer Cup
Pupils from Endike Academy took part in the Summer Cup, a festival of competitive sport that was attended by Olympians and Commonwealth athletes including Dame Kelly Holmes.
The event held at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre, saw a number of the David Ross Education Trust’s primaries compete for a chance to lift the David Ross Foundation trophy.
Pupils had to compete in a number of obstacle courses and athletics style events including a baton relay.
As well as the middle distance champion, a host of other sporting stars were on hand to inspire the youngsters including Mark Hunter, gold medal winning rower, Commonwealth hurdles champion, Andy Turner, and Winter Olympics star, Jenny Jones. The athletes were at the event all day offering advice and encouraging the students to reach their sporting potential. Sky Sports News and a host of journalists were also on hand to report on the day
David Ross, the Trust’s sponsor said: “The competition has been an outstanding success and I have been extremely impressed by the enthusiasm of each and every academy that took part.”
